dibongo
I thought it would be a good idea to share info like waiting times for sponsorship from the different states and territories , invitation times ( if we ever get one! ) processing times of visas etc . There seem to be quite a few 189 & 190 threads but not to much dedicated to State Sponsored 489. I will start the ball rolling , my wife and my details are as follows- TRA hairdressing ( wife )- submitted aug 2011 declined jan 2012 appealed feb 2012 successful June 2012 IELTS Oct 2011 L 8.0 R 6.5 W 7.5 S 9.0 overall band 8.0 (Peterborough) Retake June 2012 L 7.5 R 7.0 W 6.5 S 9.0 overall band 7.5 (Leeds/Harrogate) Remark sent 17 July 2012 - Waiting EOI for 489 , ENS & RSMS Visas successfully submitted 01 July 2012 ( 60 points ) WA 489 State sponsorship submitted 2 July 2012 NOM - Under 90 No further information requested YET, Waiting like everybody else! Just thought it would be useful for peace of mind for ourselves and those who follow on this specific visa, and to update as much as possible ( when there is something to update! ) Thanks for reading looking forward to any input Cheers ,Dibongo Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD Edited September 6, 2012 by dibongo

Guest louisebick
Hi were in a similar position, im a plumber wanted to apply for the 189 visa but finding it difficult with the ielts, taken it twice now booked for the 3rd time on 22nd sept, im getting an overall score 7.5 and was going to apply for the 489. Were still undecided what to do weather or not to cancel the ielts and just apply for the 489 or just wait. We want to get our visa lodged and get on our way.

dibongo
Don't blame you, If we had know we wouldn't have bothered at all with them, where are you heading to, WA?
milliem
I did did the same. Another couple of years and I could have claimed the points for a 176 / 190 but I would be cutting it fine for another age points drop. After 4 years of grappling around trying to get to Oz I finally have the golden ticket and i will jump through whatever hoops I have to for PR. If it means working at something else or working in the middle of nowhere I will do it. I went from having enough points to not having enough and then having to wait so I could barely scrape the points. My advice, get there any which way you can. Good luck all Millie x

samlk
Hi, I got a positive assesment from ACS during last June for 263111 (Computer Network and System Engineer). I did my IELTS last week and waiting for results. If i get 7 band for all, i would get 65 Points. My Sister in law living in Victoria is going to Sponsor me. According to July Summary they have selected only 4 from this occupation. Lowest Point is 75. What are my chances to be selected? Are they giving equal chances for all type of Visas? I think 489 candidates are very low in numbers. Sam
dibongo
I'm 489 state sponsored, not family sponsored, with state sponsorship you get an automatic invite, I think you may be waiting for a while with 65 points on family sponsored, you would be better going for state sponsorship if you cant wait.
